The Public Relations Intern will report to the Public Relations Manager

Job Overview:

A public relations intern learns, assists, and works alongside the public relations manager in planning marketing events, writing media releases and newsletters, engaging the media and public using various digital platforms on various issues affecting the organization, and updating social media pages.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Supporting the PR manager in implementing the company’s PR strategy
  • Assists in creating engaging content for media releases, social media platforms and newsletters
  • Participates in updating and maintaining the company’s social media pages
  • Participates in building relations with clients, potential clients, suppliers and the media
  • Providing assistance to the PR manager with the scheduling and organizing of events
  • Giving input on marketing initiatives and suggesting creative ways to improve the company’s public image
  • Participates in continuous research activities to assist the company improve on it’s products offering and understand it’s competitors 
  • Assist in monitoring of media coverage on events and media releases that were issued and creating press clippings
  • Updating media lists
  • Performing administrative duties
  • Any other duties as directed by the Public Relations Manager

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in college studying public relations, communication, journalism or a related course or graduated in this disciplines in the last 6 months
  • Basic understanding of various social media platforms e.g Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram etc
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft office tools ie- Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Basic Budget Management Skills 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic research and analytical skills(Preferred)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and interest in public relations
